You're right, it is off topic.
Any Windows file can be infected with a virus.

Why do you ask? aeoffice.dll is a part of antivir, but I'm thinking no antivirus could itself be totally immune to virus. If you suspect your Windows system might be infected, best to get a bootable antivirus CD. Most antivirus producers also offer a free bootable rescue CD that includes the antivirus. See extensive list here http://www.techmixer.com/free-bootable-antivirus-rescue-cds-download-list/.

Wonder if it has anything to do with this?
Avira anti-virus detected components of its own application as potentially malign on Wednesday following a dodgy signature update.

Avira detected its own AESCRIPT.DLL library file as the previously obscure "TR/Spy.463227" strain of malware.

The dodgy AntiVir virus definition file was quickly pulled and replaced with a new version – 7.11.16.146 – that resolves the problem, as explained in an official post on Avira's support forum here.

I have heard of situations where a virus that has infected a computer with an antivirus installed has used said antivirus to obfuscate itself from being scanned ect..

besides in windows if you choose yes to install something questionable you are giving it permission to do whatever it wants. That said your basically telling the antivirus to trust it and from there it can do what it wants with the antivirus software including exploiting it and its permissions.
