Installing Mint 12 themes

Post by z06gal »

I am running Mint 12 now and just want to know how to install themes? This is the best Mint yet in my opinion. Clem really is awesome in giving users what they want. It is great! Thanks for the theme help :wink:

There are gnome-shell and gtk3 themes here -> http://gnome-shell.deviantart.com/
Also check http://gnome-look.org/

You can install themes to /usr/share/themes or ~/.themes
Use gnome-tweak-tool to change shell and gtk themes.

There is an exclamation point beside the shell theme box where I am supposed to select none and it will let me do anything. How do I resolve that? Thanks

Edit: I got it. I had to log out and log back in :D

Just a note.. When installing some custom GNOME Shell themes, the Mint Menu ended up being broken (full transparency, but at least the icons are visible).

This is the case if you're logged on to the "Gnome Classic" desktop..
it is solved by logging on to the "Gnome" desktop..
