KDE stable release

When will Mint KDE be release as a stable version?
Since I can't get the internet working with the main Mint 4.0, I'm hoping it will somehow work with the kde version!

Will he have Compiz fusion installed and working out of the box? In the beta edition I can't make it work no matter what I do (I searched and followed every little detail and howtos I found). Waiting to see the results of your fantastic work though.

I think you may have to upgrade separately if you want it, I believe Boo didn't find it stable enough to be included yet...

is it possible to switch form gnome version to kde version without reinstalling everything?

It would not be easy to swap. So no.
another good reason to have /home on a separate partition.

I have found a big bug when installing on my laptop so I have to rebuild from a working beta.
but apart from the rebuild it is ready to go.
so rebuild, test and release.

KDE devs have said that the release of KDE4 upcoming is not really intended for the general public, its a release for software devs to start learning the new API, port old KDE < 3.5 apps to 4, and ofc new apps.
While i may have a peek at KDE4 at release, i think i will wait until 4.1 or 4.2 before making it my everyday choice.

Too true. KDE4 is not gunna be an everday choice for a while yet. Consider it like a Windows OS before the second Service Pack

Part of me does wonder if we could of have another beta release in the time its taken. If only to give us something new to play with while the last of the problems are fixed.

well it is KDE so there is a lot more integrated K-apps than apps in gnome.
The only mint-app missing is mint-wifi, I will look into this more for the next edition but I think KDE is better at wifi than gnome.
The main big apps are the same. eg Firefox, OOo, gimp, thunderbird, amarok, K3B...

BTW I am loving this KDE mint edition.

there will be a main (DVD) and mini (CD) edition.
the mini has all the large apps removed and large help files/doc.
eg OOo, gimp, inscape, hugin, kmoney...
