external dac and sound

Post by utkusu »

Hi all,

I am somewhat a newbie and having some problems with LMDE and my external DAC (uDAC). The system sees it as audio device, I can even play songs with it if I use VLC player if I set the output device to ALSA-udac (in VLC). But I can't make it work system wide, neither with Banshee nor on browsers, etc. I set everything to ALSA udac, I tried getting rid of Pulseaudio, re-install, purge it again. Everything browsed for hours, tried a lot of things, but no I can't make it work. I was hoping you guys give me a hand here. I will attach the following:

In the sound settings menu, I set everything to ALSA-udac but it won't do anything. And it only allows PCM to be changed, but not the master.

utkusu. All you have to do is plug it in, turn it on and select the NuForce udac in sound preferences.
Note you need to select it as the preferred hardware device and as the preferred sound output device.
Nothing else to configure.

So far I have experienced none of the issues tagged here, but It's nice to know what tweaks are a required to fix potential glitches.
