Sorry I can't site the source of this article because i read it in a waiting room and don't remember all the details. if anyone has a comment or more info let me know.
what i read was that windows 8's boot loader will block other os installation at the hardware level with vendors supporting that feature out of the box on new computers. they say its a security feature to stop boot sector viruses ect... but it will block linux also. this is ridiculous and probably will not be adopted by all vendors but just the fact its an option shows microsoft does see linux as a threat unlike it claims. The last thing microsoft needs to worry about is a boot sector virus i mean aren't they from the day's of floppy's.
