A quad core processor was used running only one core, it was cooled with liquid helium, and all it had to do was boot into Windows and report its clock speed. It did no useful work. For a detailed discussion of the new AMD Bulldozer CPU, including benchmark tests against Intel's Sandy Bridge units, see this article
.The AMD FX-8150 has a standard clockspeed of 3.6GHz, with a possible Turbo Core available to it to allow it push up to around 3.9GHz.
