DeaDBeeF audio player

Postby Brian49 on Wed Aug 11, 2010 4:46 am

I came across this player quite by chance yesterday. It's really rather good - well designed around a plugin architecture, and with plenty of functionality. I gather that the Ubuntu developers are thinking of making it the default music player in Maverick. You can install it via Ubuntu Tweak, or via Synaptic after adding this PPA to the repositories:

Code: Select all
ppa:alexey-smirnov/deadbeef

I'd be interested to hear what other users make of it. Many thanks.

This is an old thread but I also use DeaDBeeF and I'm very fond of it. What I like most about it is its flawless gapless playback. I use to have a hard time finding a good gapless audio player for linux a few years ago. I never liked rhythmbox, I was using amarok which wasn't up to doing a proper gapless playback (back then, now I don't know), then switched to mpd (which works great, but the deamon setup can be a bit bothersome, especially using lots of external HDDs). Then DeaDBeeF came along. It's very lightweight and straightforward, and does a marvelous job.

The first thing I do after installing a new distro is to install DeaDBeeF.
