How to keep Conky's from disappearing on Super-D in LM12?

Post by beslayed »

Under the old Gnome desktop environment, there was a compiz setting ("skip hide taskbar" or "hide skip taskbar") which, if checked, prevented Conky's from being hidden when Super-D is pressed. What is the equivalent under Gnome3/LM12?

Except that if I left-click directly on the desktop, the Conky disappears.... Are you having this problem?

Mine did the same, clicking the desktop made conky disappear. I commented the "own_window_type" altogether and now clicking has no effect.

confirm
own_window_type normal --> conky disappears hitting ctrl+alt+d
own_window_type desktop --> conky disappears when left clicking on desktop

@ greerd

can you post your conkyrc

commenting the "own_window_type" altogether doesn't work for me conky still disappears when hitting ctrl+alt+d

maybe i have a solution

advanced settings --> desktop --> Have file manager handle the desktop off

it works so far

ctrl+alt+d --> conky not affected
left clicking on desktop --> conky not affected

i report back if everything stays that way

I had a similar behaviour, clicking on the desktop, when nautilus was there, made conky dissapear. Using some of greerd's conf lines (own_window*), I have my conky running, but stills goes away with Super-D, it stays with the button "Show desktop" though.
Removing the file manager from the desktop, is not an option to me, is one of the reasons why I moved to Mint in the first place, because Gnome 3 and Unity lacks of that functionality by default.
