(Yes, I know many people hate kpackagekit. Just consider this one more area where I'm weird.)

indeed![]()
anyway, i would do it in 2 steps:
1- update to testing;
2- if and when the end result is stable jump it to sid
- there's a couple issues atm in testing/sid: xorg is still not playing nice with prop drivers (both nvidia and ati) and the last update to 3.1 kernel wasn't smooth;
both breakages topics (regarding testing and sid) will be your friend, i believe![]()
now, the sources.list, you should keep always the mint entry as is, the rest is self-explanatory, i think
deb http://packages.linuxmint.com/ debian main upstream import backport romeo
## testing ##
# deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian testing main contrib non-free
# deb http://security.debian.org/ testing/updates main contrib non-free
# deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org testing main non-free
## sid ##
# deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian unstable main contrib non-free
# deb-src http://ftp.debian.org/debian unstable main contrib non-free
# deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org sid main non-free
