Canon iP1600 (SOLVED)

Postby uncleBob on Mon Sep 19, 2011 6:19 pm

My iP1600 worked fine in LMDE until the September upgrade, now it won't print a page of anything ! I was using the iP2200 driver from Canon-Europe, but that is dead. Also, no success with the Cups drivers. What was in the September upgrade that is not compatible now? Any suggestions are appreciated.
I like the comment...If you can't fix it, don't break it !!! So, what's the fix ????
Regards, BobS

Yes, solved !! I decided that since there were no suggestions or answers to my situation, I would back-up all data, reformat the partition, and re-install LMDE2011-01. Then I went back to the Canon-Europe driver, and everything works great. I also flagged the original Cups program so that it would not upgrade to any newer version. So far, so good. I hope this might help anyone else who is stumped with a Canon iP1600.

More good news.........I now have my Canon iP1600 printing when running LMDE (latest update) AND LinuxMint12 ! All this due to Paulm and his advice as posted in LMDEsupport - Howtos .......
Yes, the iP1800 driver is good to go. Thank-you Paul........
