SET PCM AS MASTER

Post by shikmehmet »

Hello there.

I chase an answer to my problem.

If i wear headphones, or use skype, and i use the volume keys, this will not affect the sound volume at all. The master is not really the true master.

I need to make the volume panel icon and keyboard volume keys control the PCM and not the master. I want to leave the master around 80 percent, and then control my volume only by moving the pcm around.

I used to be able to do this back with ubuntu 9ish... Can someone offer me some help. I have been looking at amixer and all sorts and have not had any luck.

I have only alsa on my machine. Pulse was removed a long time ago.

any help is appreciated.

Thank you

Come on people, some one must know, i'm using LMDE ,

i want to make it that my key board short cuts and the volume icon in the system tray control the PCM, how can i allocate this functionality to the PCM.

The reason being, keyboad short cuts do nothing for the headphone volume. Moving the master up and down does not work on the headphones, moving the PCM however changes the volume across the entire system.

I have removed all of pulse audio some time ago, and only use alsa.

Thanks people.
