I have MATE working, but the volume keys and mute key on the keyboard do not work. However, they do work if I switch to the Gnome 3 environment. Any ideas how to fix this?
MATE is fantastic by the way, well done.

I also noticed this, by default the multimedia keys on my keyboard do not work in MATE, the Keyboard Shortcut app seems to work but the changes are not picked up by MATE, I presume it stores it somewhere that Gnome3 uses but not MATE, I need to do some more digging

found out that it is a bug and has been fixed upstream but not rolled out yet.

Anybody got any news about when this will be done? I was hoping it was going to be in 1.2, but I still have the problem.

Try installing mate-settings-daemon-pulse and then logout and log back in.
