Tiny font in KDE after installing KDE over Gnome

Postby jcarpenter on Sat Dec 17, 2011 9:39 pm

I installed KDE full on top of Katya. When I go into KDE, the fonts on the window manager and the control panel, etc are so tiny I can't read them. Any clues to what I did wrong?

check systemsettings > application Appearance > fonts and see the size they are set there; depending on your liking increase them, you may have to logout and in; play whit those settings until you find a comfortable font size.

In KDE, I can't read the text in the control panels. Even if I were to use a magnifiying glass, the text would not be readable. It's that bad. I was thinking maybe I left out a module or something.....

not very likely, i think.
synaptic would take care of all deps.
i see 2 options to explore (but anyway not sure if they will give you better results)
- install kubuntu-desktop (the extra pkg should be minimum, but could be there some difference)
- create a new user and login into kde with this new created user.
good luck

After a fresh install of Mint KDE, I ran into this problem again. It seems my monitor had reported my DPI as 30 (I forget the command) so I went into:

Settings --> System Settings --> Application Appearance --> Fonts --> and set the "Force Fonts DPI" to "96".

Rebooted and all was perfect!
