Sun Java security problem

Postby midas on Sun Dec 18, 2011 4:16 am

As far as I know all the older Ubuntu-releases are affected because of a serious security-glitch in the older Sun/Oracle-packages. I do think the older Linux Mint releases too because they all are using the Java-packages from the Ubuntu-repository. Now Ubuntu is folding back the whole issue for older releases too and will replace the older (insecure) packages with empty 'dummy' packages. Please find the attachment enclosed:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LucidLynx/ReleaseNotes/Java6Transition

Will all of the Ubuntu-based Linux Mint-releases be affected too? Will all of the Java-packages to be replaced manually? Who knows the answer?
Linux Mint 13 KDE (64 bits)

Mint ubuntu editions use the ubuntu repos therefore any changes there will cause changes here.
