First of all hello - since I'm new at this forum I believe this is the right place for this post. If not please accept my apologies.
I just installed Mint 12 Lisa and noticed that the keyboard switcher icon appears two times in the top panel. Is there a way to remove the keyboard icon (the first one from the image below).
Thanks

Re: Two keyboard switch icons in top menu
Install alacarte app. This is the "old" Main Menu configurator for gnome which you can then use to de-select the one entry.
You will find it in the category you are interested in. You can also add remove what ever you like for your menu here.
after installation you will find this alacarte app in the "other" category and it is called "Main Menu"
Don't forget to mark this "solved"
Happy Minting !

Yes there are 2 indicators for the keyboard layout. Is there a way to get rid of one of them? It's annoying actually
Thanks

I made that bug report - report there if you have this problem.
Re: Two keyboard switch icons in top panel
I have this issue also.
To my knowledge, I did not install anything to add one or the other keyboard switcher, although admittedly, I stumbled around in the dark for days trying to figure out how to configure maté.
The widget that indicates the two-letter code is preferable because it matches the style of the other widgets on the maté notification area. I hope there is a way to get rid of the other that is supposed to look like a keyboard (but doesn't really - on a netbook screen anyway). Mostly the issue matters because too many widgets in the area squeeze the time to the right until it displays as '...'. I will register with the bug report too and keep an eye on it.

Re: Two keyboard switch icons in top panel
I found a temporary fix for this: http://askubuntu.com/questions/69720/ho ... -indicator
It's the first solution marked [solved]. I used GHex for the search and replace of the numbers.
Hope this helps.
