I don't know if the proxy is not working correctly , or update manager don't ask for the user and pass and i need set those information in some place.

in the Firefox i had to set the proxy on firefox's configuration to work...

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

At least for Synaptic Package Manager you have to configure this yourself. Open Synaptic -> Preferences -> Network, and configure your proxy there.

If you also need to use the proxy for programs run from the command prompt (and it isn't working yet there), edit the .bashrc file in your home folder (gedit ~/.bashrc) and add the following two lines at the end:
Code: Select all
http_proxy=http://yourproxyaddress:proxyport
export http_proxy

or with authentication:
Code: Select all
http_proxy=http://username:password@yourproxyaddress:proxyport
export http_proxy
Close your terminal and open a new one to activate the settings.

You can add it to the end of .profile file instead. Or create a .bashrc (but read the .profile first in that case).
