Hello :3

Postby Zukaro Travon on Wed Jan 18, 2012 7:51 pm

Hello; I'm new here.

I used to use Ubuntu 11.10, but stopped as it's headed more towards tablet computers (when Unity is perfected and I own a tablet I'll likely use Ubuntu on that tablet). I would always install gnome3 on Ubuntu (I tend to delete my operating systems weekly and reinstall them again later) and it'd take me hours to set it up (just to likely delete it the next day). So this time I went with Linux Mint as I heard it was similar to Ubuntu and used gnome2 (or 3, not sure). Either way, I just wanted a Linux distro that came with some version of gnome.

Not much else to say. :P

I LOVE foxes (they're my favorite animal).
I like to play around with computers and I'm pretty good at getting stuff done (although usually need help :P (Google is my friend, but sometimes I've got to come to forums for help (and so I'll be asking for help with my second post :V))).

I used Arch Linux for a bit to try and learn something about the terminal (and I did learn a bit), but I decided it was time to get my netbook 100% working again. I didn't want to go through downloading all the things needed for a fully functional GUI on ArchLinux so I decided to just use another distro. I also wanted to multiboot JoliOS on there and I couldn't figure out multibooting in ArchLinux.

Unfortunitly I seem to be stuck with MBR as when I tried to dualboot with GUID I'd have had to have done it manually (as the other OS was not detected). So rather than mess around with that for a month I just did it the easy way (anyways, I don't plan to have more than those 2 OS's for now (other than ArchLinux but I don't have much reason to use that still since I can always disable the UI in Linux Mint)).

Something like that, I don't know what else to say. :P

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Welcome to the Linux Mint Forums Zukaro Travon!

Don't know what Mint version you are using but Mint 12 has both Gnome 3 with MGSE and MATE (a Gnome 2 fork). The CD version of Mint only has Gnome 3 with MGSE but you can install MATE with "sudo apt-get install mint-meta-mate". You can also install Cinnamon, a Gnome 3 fork with "sudo apt-get install cinnamon-session".

Cheers.
