Is a problem with the Menu?

Postby Ermacthewiz109 on Tue Jan 24, 2012 1:05 pm

Am not sure if anyone has faced the same problem, But I can't find nothing regarding this. So here it goes, I install a program through the software manager. I install the Gnote note-taking software right, But when I did it, It did not show up in the menu at all. I thought it would have been under the accessories section but is not. Is not even on the office section or anything regarding it. So I can't find it even on the applications section is like I never install it. But I did cause I even run Synaptic package manager and is install. So is there a problem with the menu setup that it wont let certain things to show up, Like is there a limit to it (Which I doubt) But am just wondering.
Has anyone experience the same problem if you so, please help!!!!!

Refer to the beginners guide to setting up LXDE. It has information about creating the missing shortcuts if you install a program and they are not generated automatically due to lack of code from the publishers instructing the installer to do so.

Sections 7, 8 and 11 should cover it.

You can test if the Gnote application is installed from the Terminal:
Code: Select all
which gnote

Should reply back:
/usr/bin/gnote

If not, the package is not installed.

I'm not familiar with the guide antikythera refers to (yet), but you can use LXMED http://lxmed.sourceforge.net/ to edit the LXDE menu and entries yourself.
