I have a samsung mono laser mL 2250 which works well with the supplied cups driver, however the usual proposal is
HP printers, possibly because they support Linux via their HPLIP program
--the only caveat about printers is the all-in-one types, since scanner/copier + print is awkward with Linux (mutifunction device), whereas single function devices, such as a sepaarte scanner and a separate printer can be supported well.
--and scanner support for some scanner types, eg Canon LIDE has been an issue with later versions of Linux distributions (driver/library files that are being used)
