Hey everyone. New user :)

Hey everyone!

New Linux user here, dabbled a bit, finally got rid of my Windows installation. I'm 29, soldier in the US Army (Communications job) and looking forward to this experience. I've dabbled in Terminal before to get programs running. Hopefully won't have many questions, if I do I'll search prior. ;-)

Linux Mint seems the best OOBE for a Linux Distro from Distrowatch so I've decided to settle here. I have a few tech "backgrounds" in that I'm a webmaster and pretty fluent in PHP, (a bit) in javascript, excellent in HTML4 & DHTML (learning 5 atm.)

Not sure what else to put up here but also actively looking to peruse (sp?) the forums here and check things out.

Kudos for jumping in and getting rid of Windows :wink:

Have you already installed Cinnamon? (If you are using Linux Mint 12 that is, for LMDE it isn't available yet IIRC.) Some background and introduction here: http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=1910

Cinnamon is an exciting new desktop environment being developed by the Linux Mint team. If you are at home with CSS and Javascript, it has just been opened up to develop themes for Cinnamon and likely shortly will follow to develop extension as well. All that is done in CSS and Javascript :wink:
