Hi, just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a Linux newbie, as of this evening. :-)

Installing it on a laptop that will be used for development work in Liberia by a small foundation based in the Netherlands. So far, I like what I've seen, but I'm stumped on several issues, so I'll be asking questions soon. I've heard that you're all very friendly, so, well, here's me joining the friendliness. :-)

Welcome minfoun, to the Linux Mint forums

Note that there also is a real-time internet chat for Linux Mint. Just open XChat from the menu and you are automatically connected to the #linuxmint-chat and #linuxmint-help channels.

And check out the Community website, with a hardware compatibility database, tutorials, and more: http://community.linuxmint.com/

thanks, but XChat is not an option right now as I can't connect to the internet. That's one of the things that's got me stumped. Will post a cry for help.

Ugh

Sorry to hear that. In your post for help, please include the output of following command:

Code: Select all: inxi -Fc 0

That should give us some basic info about your system.
