Hello All,

Just DU'd to the linux-kernel 3.2.2-1 this morning....one issue so far is that I've lost my wireless connection. While the wireless indicator light blinks and appears to be active, the network manager tells me that the wireless device isn't managed....I've gone into the manager and went through everything, it's all setup as it should be, but it's not managed.....can anyone help or shed some light on this....thanks and cheers

Andrew

BTW; I'm having to connect through my wired connection in another room

too much mono stuff all at once. makes me feel sullied and unusual...
The following NEW packages will be installed:
libmono-cairo4.0-cil libmono-corlib4.0-cil libmono-data-tds4.0-cil libmono-i18n-west4.0-cil libmono-i18n4.0-cil libmono-posix4.0-cil libmono-security4.0-cil libmono-sharpzip4.84-cil libmono-simd4.0-cil libmono-sqlite4.0-cil libmono-system-configuration4.0-cil libmono-system-core4.0-cil libmono-system-data4.0-cil libmono-system-drawing4.0-cil libmono-system-enterpriseservices4.0-cil libmono-system security4.0-cil libmono-system-transactions4.0-cil libmono-system-web-applicationservices4.0-cil libmono-system-web-services4.0-cil libmono-system-web4.0-cil libmono-system-xml4.0-cil libmono system4.0-cil libmono-web4.0-cil mono-4.0-gac ...

may the wizard that posts a simple recipe for removing all mono (and mono-related packages) while leaving behind a healthy system be gifted a camel that spits nothing but dates.

Just open Synaptic and search on mono. Removing all packages starting with mono or libmono should do the trick. You will loose Tomboy and Banshee. It might want to remove a package called Gnome. This is only a meta package used for the initial install and it will not matter if it is removed.

Hello all:
It seems that the Friday morning update also broke my wireless. It is continually asking for password to the network, but won't accept it when it's input.
The wireless is working perfectly on Win 7, LM12, and LM12 KDE, all on the same laptop.
I can connect to the network via an ethernet cable
This is an Atheros AR 9285 PCi exspress card with ath9k driver and the kernel is 3.2.0-1-amd64.
i did look at the posted solution for the Broadcomm card but it doen't appear to apply here. i do not have the folders mentioned.

Any help would be appreciated.

jl

It seems that wireless broke for a couple of folks with the upgrade kernel (3.2). see a few posts back.
If you noticed it only after kernel upgrade, that might be the problem.
I would just boot to the old kernel for now. That might work for you?

Gene:

I tried that and it didn't work....ended up borking my system and reinstalling. What's the latest info on kernel 3.2.2-1, the reason I ask is that I've got 297 updates waiting to be installed, part of which is an update to the kernel...it's now @ 3.2.4-1. Is anyone else venturing into this or are they sitting back and waiting.....cheers

Interesting, I've heard a lot of people have had MAJOR breakages with the 3.2 kernel. I compile my own kernel from the Liquorix source, and thankfully I didn't have any issues with 3.2 whatsoever. Interesting as stock Debian kernels have a reputation for being patched well (security wise and bug wise).

No problems at all with the stock Debian 3.2 kernel here, on an Xfce desktop.

I am using a stock Debian 3.2.4-1 AMD64 on an Intel Desktop, i3, H67 chipset with Intel onboard graphics and using ethernet for networking. No problems at all.

Wireless problems Continue.
I just did a du which included kernel version 3.2.4-1 and I am still unable to connect wirelessly.
Dropping back to 3.1.0-1 enabled the wireless again.

If you are having kernel issues you can always try Liquorix kernels. All you have to do is boot to an older kernel and uninstall through synaptic if they do not work for you. Liquorix have always been good for notebooks.

Just add Liquorix to your sources.

http://liquorix.net/

Another option is always good. The wireless issues seem to be separate to the kernel, stemming from the wireless modules themselves. Thus waiting might be the best option for some.
