I know it's kinda unorthodox...but I put Compiz in LXDE along with Emerald.
Not bad looking eh? Especially considering it uses about 200MB RAM idle! (I have Firefox and Evince open, hence the 400MB RAM usage)

Mint 12 Cinnamon sort of like Mint 9 with gnome 2. I put this up just to point out that Cinnamon is pretty customizable and for people coming from the last LTS (Mint 9) to the upcoming one (Mint 13), you can use basically the same setup as before (assuming you didn't change it):

Nice desk, colyn. I keep wishing I could have such a clean desktop but I can't bring myself to dump some plasmoids, no matter how seldom I actually use them.

Love that wallpaper, even though I wouldn't use it myself. I'm trying to keep my desktop mostly blue, although yesterday I realized I needed to activate the Mardi Gras walls in my rotation. In fact I need to see about taking some new shots tomorrow for the new month's thread.

Thanks

I try to keep the desktop free of extra items to avoid confusion..

I like colors more than solids for my desktop. I guess that is the artist in me since I've studied art most of my life and am a photographer.. I've been going through a few of my photos to see if any would go as wallpaper..

I was running KDE on my netbook for a while last year; it ran well enough but was a little too power-hungry. I do really like the Plasma Netbook interface, though. Mine ended up with a sort of suede-leather look...
