Mint 12 KDE final, can't connect to hidden SSID [SOLVED]
I just installed it. No problems.
Wifi Broadcom recognized, but can't connect to a wifi network with a hidden SSID.
After entering name of SSID and hitting "ENTER"... nothing happens.
Whan I make SSID visible, everything is OK, in network connections I saved it as a system connection and connect automatically.
Then made wifi hidden again, still OK.
But after reboot - no wifi again.

Re: Mint 12 KDE final, can't connect to hidden SSID
SSID hiding isn't actually providing any kind of protection. Just enable WPA2 for best protection, leave the SSID visible and save yourself a headache

Re: Mint 12 KDE final, can't connect to hidden SSID
Thanks Vincent for your reply and security advices.
Off course I have a WPA2 personal protection enabled, as well as access restriction policy based od client MAC address. Plus my SSID is hidden. So protection should be on maximum in my environment.
Windows has no problem with hidden SSIDs, Mint 12 Gnome too, Mint 11 LXDE, Android phone, tablet... so I would like if someone could confirm this to be a bug in Mint 12 KDE, if not to look further into the problem...

Re: Mint 12 KDE final, can't connect to hidden SSID
I am having the exact same problem. I try on the live disk Mint 12 KDE to run my wireless, which is the only way i can connect on that computer and the KDE network manager applet will NOT recognize that I have hit the enter key after entering in my hidden SSID. NOTHING I did was able to get me connected!! Still looking for a solution!
Re: Mint 12 KDE final, can't connect to hidden SSID
Okay i just posted that, then tried a solution I found on the bug thread, apparently this is a big issue for Kubuntu (no surprise there)..here's what was suggested and I did it, and now am able to connect to my wireless..
1. Open Terminal
2. Type the following: sudo iwlist wlan0 scan essid YOURHIDDENSSIDHERE
3. (Replace YOURHIDDENSSIDHERE with whatever name you gave your network)
4. Left click on the KDE network manager applet.
5. Your SSID should now be visible, click on it, manage connections and enter password.
6. Send me cookies (chocolate peanut butter is always appreciated)

Re: Mint 12 KDE final, can't connect to hidden SSID
THANKS MAN! Virtual cookies are on their way
fyi: I added a connection with the essid of my router and PSK etc, then ran your commands, and the wireless comes up straight away!
