If you don't mind mixing gnome and Kde, you can install compiz into fedora
--but you have to check howto!

    Since version 4.2, however, KDE’s own KWin ships with capabilities similar to Compiz.[24] As such, KWin is usually deployed by default.

The calculation from Fedora's viewpoint might have been..
  • Fedora = RPM + Kde 4x
  • Compiz - Suse (2006) + Gnome
    --result equals not likely!

Great article. I used to really enjoy some of the things it could do. But, with a new generation of DE taking hold, we need new compositing options as well. As the article points out, Ubuntu is the only one still using it, and it doesn't even work that well with unity! Honestly, I think it may be time for it to die. Can't wait to see what effects cinnamon end up with by the time Mint 13 is released!
