How do I restore default mint theme

Postby hinto on Fri Nov 12, 2010 9:57 am

Hi guys. Say I successfully migrate Mint 9 to Mint 10 by changing sources.list, or I toast the way cool default Mint theme. How do I get Mint to restore the default one?
Thanks

I've forgotten what the default theme is called but you will find it in MintMenu>Preferences>Appearance>Themes

Thanks...
I just wasn't sure if that carried the font, color, widget style, etc with it (background isn't)... (I was used to having to piece it back together with sidux/KDE). Good to know it's "one stop shopping for Mint" (and it's Mint-X-Metal for Mint 10/Gnome)

Thanks for the link.
I'm not talking about re-installation, I didn't delete the theme, just changed it. I just wanted to be sure I could get it back.

The default background will be in MintMenu>Preferences>Appearance>Backgrounds

I'm facing a similar problem. I'm running mint 12 and it's been less than a day since I installed it. Just after installation I opened appearence under "system settings". There the Theme field was blank. I clicked on the the arrow for the drop down menu. There were 3 entries only- Adwaita, High contrast, high contrast inverse. As soon as I clicked Adwaita theme got selected and I can't figure out how to undo this and get the default theme. This Adwaita theme doesn't even have an icon for torrent files. I liked the default theme beeter and I want it back. Can you guys help me?
And, what is it that is reffered to as MintMenu? Is it the menu button on bottom left?

I don't thinks applies any longer since Mint's move to Gnome 3 and Unity/Cinnamon.

Got it. Here's how. Click on Menu->Advanced Settings (in the leftmost column) ->Themes tab. Set Icon Theme and Gtk+ theme to Mint-X.
