Skype No Sound

I've gotten my system sound and recording fine as I can hear youtube videos and record myself with the voice recording application, but there is no sound in Skype. Since I can't hear, I also don't know is I can be heard (but i doubt I can). I'ma bit of a linux noob, so I could be missing something very obvious... I went in to skype options and "Sound Devices" to see if it's running off of the wrong one but there is only one option. Is this a problem? thanks! :)

Skype and PA don't play well together. If you want to use skype, I suggest you purge PA.

Thanks for trying to help me, but not only did the guide not work, anything that tries to use sound freezes and crashes.

Odd, it's cured all my problems with Main Edition Mint installs. Skype and VLC both worked good.
Life is too short to waste it on Microsoft.

You've installed Mint 12 correct?

Yes, it's mint 12. I went and found another guide that picked up where that one failed for me. Thanks, though! :)
