win + e

Postby Daelin on Wed Feb 15, 2012 6:35 am

hi there,
i just installed linux mint 12 on my netbook. i'm using it with the MATE interface.
because i'm a windows-user too i often (want to) use win + e to open the explorer/nautilus. so i tried to make a shortcut, i figured out that i can start it with the command "nautilus" but it is not the same explorer like if i start "Computer".
does anybody know how to start "Computer" with a keybind, or the command for it?

sry for my bad english, i hope you understood my question :-)

greetings, daelin

nautilus is not part of MATE
caja is
so change ur shortcut command to "caja"

if u really want to use nautilus then system->preferences->preffered applications and under system u can change to nautilus.

thats how i made the shortcut, but if i try to use it nothing happens :S
if i use the same command (caja) in the terminal or with alt + F2 it works, so i'm confused...

other commands are working with the shortcut.

strange indeed. alt+f2 is also set in the same place?
maybe superkey + e is set to something else also
or superkey is binded for something for ur system and wont activate.

also u can try "/usr/bin/caja" as an command
just in case it doesnt pick it up

I'm having the same problem - *none* of my shortcut keys work! Been looking for a solution for weeks now, and nobody would answer my query :(
