Thanks to several fine folks that helped me with an issue regarding changeing the hostname. Now I have another question, I have been working on and off trying to get the file sharing setup. I have to Linux machines joined to samba, all machines see each other, and by the correct hostnames (thanks again). Here is the situation, when I share a folder (lets say documents) on machine 1 (Linux), then I set the permissions and share name (usually) default, the folder shows up as shared. When I try to access it, I am challenged for a username and password, I have tried every combonation possible, tweaked the permissions and shares, groups user accounts and evrything else I can think of. I guess having a very good knowledge of Windows AD and LDAP does not carry over to Linux systems. I am sure it is something that I am doing wrong or not doing at all. So, I need one of you experts to help me learn this the Linux way, or point me to where I can teach myself, thanks again for your time.
