I found this on the Ubuntu forums.

Same thing happens on my usb flash. The way to get around it is by navigating to the drive through the terminal, and trying

Code:

sudo rm -r .trash

That will delete it. The reason it won't delete is permissions. Also under properties of the folder, look under permissions. If you can modify it to be written and read by everyone, you can remove it through nautilus.

If you select your flash drive in nautilus (just like when you double click to open ' Home' ) and select 'show hidden files' under the tab 'View' can't you remove the files in 'Trash' there?
