Any interesting stuff in Linux's future?

Just curious, is there anything interesting happening on the horizon in Linux (not just Mint)? We got Ubuntu trying to iron out Unity and Mint looking for the best way to keep the old Gnome look, but besides that are there any interesting projects in the works for the future? I dunno, a new OS/distribution, partnership with a major player like Google or Adobe, an open source MMO? Anything?

Well, I read these news yesterday about Canonical bringing an Ubuntu desktop experience to Android through a docked phone interface. Makes me a bit excited, as I have used the Webtop environment for Motorola phones which left me a bit unsatisfied.

Overall, I don't think it would make a big splash, since docks for smartphones aren't all that popular right now. But being the first company I know of to offer such a feature in such a complete way makes it pretty innovative I suppose.

Linux isn't a platform, simply different distributions; so any deal with a commercial organization is extremely unlikely, they have no-one to supply them a complete setup..

I usually find one of the easiest ways to keep up-to-date on Linux topics is via the few magazines that are available, browse in a bookstore, or if I am too lazy for that, just look or subscribe to some locations via the Internet..

Ubuntu for android

and

Adobe is killing flashplayer for Linux. 11.2 release will be the final Linux flash player. I really hope GNASH and the other OS flash players get their stuff straightened out soon....

Ubuntu on Android is big new and the demonstration is pretty awesome. Ubuntu TV interface is also looking very interesting. Unity is really beginning to get somewhere and it is a fairly young project. Cinnamon has been in the news a lot and seems to be a huge hit for people that want to retain the classic desktop. Adobe dropping support for Linux is big news. Wayland reaching version 1.0 along with a Live CD to demonstrate how it is progressing is pretty big news. There are a lot of things going on right now.
