Is there a Tabbed Dock that is low on resources?
I have just come from Windows where I ended up using Object Dock as unlike most of the others it had Tabs - which is like multiple docks in one but neatly tabbed. Is there one for Linux (gnome desktop)?

Well, Docky is. Uses 20MB RAM max, and like 2% of the CPU max. Avant has the tabbed system that you're looking for, but uses more CPU power.
In terminal type in sudo apt-get install avant-window-navigator
Here's my Docky, simple and light.
