Ideas for Cinnamon applets / extensions
As the title suggests, let's brainstorm some ideas for applets and extensions to make the experience better.
1. Gmail applet (that checks for unread mails etc)
2. Notification history applet (that gives you a history of notifications, in case you were away from your PC)
3. Customisable panel (right-click to adjust transparency etc)
4. A Twitter applet (like Choqok, but maybe a bit simpler)
Add more...

Re: Ideas for Cinnamon applets / extensions
Something like the good old Sensors Applet. Or is there one already?

Re: Ideas for Cinnamon applets / extensions
I made a thread about this one recently, but there's no harm trying again!

I would really love an applet to display CapsLock and Numlock status on screen, something identical to the 'LockKeys' one here: https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/36/lock-keys/
https://github.com/kazysmaster/gnome-sh ... n-lockkeys
I'll have a hard job finally getting Mint on my wife's laptop without this.

I would really like a touchpad applet/extension:
something like this : https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/ ... indicator/

Re: Ideas for Cinnamon applets / extensions
FYI: I have that one installed (from before I installed Cinnamon) and the functionality of it still works alright (i.e. touchpad is disabled when mouse is plugged in), but the panel indicator doesn't show up any more.seneq wrote:I would realy like a touchpad applet/extension:

Dunno if that helps or not.

Re: Ideas for Cinnamon applets / extensions
I really miss a fully integrated messaging menu.
Re: Ideas for Cinnamon applets / extensions
I could really use a stacks or drawer applet that will display the contents of a folder in a drop-down.

+1 for a Messaging Menu w/Notifications
I'm currently using CheckGmail which works fine but is a little dated and the theming doesn't exactly match-up with the rest of the very slick looking lovely Cinammon interface.

+1 from me too.
The popup 'new mail' message from Thunderbird is very nice, but I'd also love to see an envelope icon (or similar) show up in the tray too (a la MS Outlook).
Dunno if that's strictly a Thunderbird thing or if it can be done with Cinnamon? I have no clue about the technical side of these things.
PLEASE!

Re: Ideas for Cinnamon applets / extensions
re messaging menu, thats fine with me as long as its optional, personally i totally hate it, must be optional with classic tray icons for the individual messaging apps for those who dont want the msg menu
Re: Ideas for Cinnamon applets / extensions
That's certainly an obvious MIA in Cinnamon, hopefully the devs will take it on at some point as the current unofficial messaging menu applet author seems to be in over his head when it comes to developing and fine tuning the applet - gmail integration is a must.paulo.delavega wrote:I really miss a fully integrated messaging menu.
Re: Ideas for Cinnamon applets / extensions
Not sure how possible these are, but to help ease transition from Gnome 2 to Cinnamon, I'd love to see the following:
1. Ubuntu's Indicator Applet Complete ported to Cinnamon.
2. An applet "wrapper" that gives you a panel area that behaves exactly like Gnome 2's panel, where MATE applets can be placed.
These two would temporarily help to round out missing applets and functionality until these things are native in Cinnamon.

Re: Ideas for Cinnamon applets / extensions
Please, port Classic Gnome (2.32.1) Menu to Cinnamon.
Re: Ideas for Cinnamon applets / extensions
I'd also like to see the return of the "real" Mint menu (the one from Mint 11 and earlier).

Re: Ideas for Cinnamon applets / extensions
I would like to see these gnome shell extensions made into applets.
workspace indicator
cpu temperature indicator
inhibit applet
I could not get the Inhibit applet to work in cinnamon.

Re: Ideas for Cinnamon applets / extensions
I must admit I'd prefer the older style Mint Menu as well, it was always one of the attractions of the distro for me.
Re: Ideas for Cinnamon applets / extensions
What i'm also missing is a good menu editor like Alacarte, but then for MATE and/or Cinnamon. Alacarte only works for Gnome, not for the other 2. This would be very much appreciated!
