Installed MATE w/XFCE, Power Manager Issues

Installed MATE w/XFCE, Power Manager Issues

Postby Transitman on Sun Mar 11, 2012 9:30 pm

Like the subject states, I had XFCE installed and working fine prior to installing MATE from the repos.
Now I can't go more than 10 minutes watching a video without the screen blanking out, like a screen saver is active.
I have set all power options to for monitor to NEVER, disabled and uninstalled all screensavers and still have this issue.
When using the power-manager in MATE it asks for Authentication to save my settings, which apparently it is not.

I have uninstalled mate-power-manager, no change, uninstalled XFCE-power-manager, no change.
I only have mate-power-manager installed right now.

I need to know how to get the screen from blanking out at all.

check mateconf-editor
apps -> mate-power-manager
might find something odd there

I ended up re-installing xscreensaver and mate-screensaver.
In MATE, made sure of all my settings, but still blanked.

Uninstalled mate-screensaver.
Reboot to XFCE, checked my settings in Xscreensaver, saved and then checked xset -q and found DKMS disabled and screensaver settings where I wanted them.

So for now, I think all is good.

In an update of the blanking monitor issue, I am using XFCE without any blanking after 10 minutes or even longer.

If I go to MATE, it is like it has a mind of its' own. It is not holding onto settings I make and it blanks after 10 minutes.
This matter needs to be addressed, in order for it to work properly. I cannot have a screen going blank after 10 minutes just because MATE wants to.

I had both repos active.
You're saying the tridex is the most up to date going.
