Wireless refuses password

Postby nomko on Thu Mar 15, 2012 3:27 am

Hi,

When i want to connect to the internet using my Wifi adaptor, it requires my password which i set up in the router for my Wifi connection. But when i type this password, i get a message that my password is not correct  :?:

When i check this password on the laptop of my kid, i am not mistyping the password. I type the correct password.

My Wifi adaptor:
RaLink RT2500 802.11g

What goes wrong here? Why does Mint 12 not accept my correctly typed password?

Another question: under Ubuntu i installed Wicd Networkmanager and removed the standard networkmanager due to the fact that Wicd is more detailed about some information. Can i use Wicd under Mint 12 and remove the standard networkmanager?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Yes you can do this the same way as mint 12 is based on ubuntu 11.10. This 'may' help with you connection problems but if not we are going to need more information.

On your password problem, ensure your adapter is compatible with the speed and encryption you have set in the router. As a test try connecting with no security, if this works we at least know the adapter is working ok. Then try using a different speed and/or encryption type.

I'll try this one!

Never experienced this problem under Ubuntu 10.04.3 LTS... That's why i find it so strange.
