I finally was able to connect to the server and am downloading Bianca as we speak (or rather, as I type!). Only getting around 300 kbps, although that is not bad for this time of day. Normally get over 800 kbps during the day with my Earthlink broadband (through my tv cable company.) I never use a download manager.

I hear that so many people (maybe we should call our users "citizens") were downloading Bianca that Yahoo and Google went down! Or maybe it was my elderly neighbor uploading her meatloaf recipes.

See you in the future,
Citizen Ken

Good luck...

You know, checksum before and after burning is your friend... it saved me a lot of frustration.

... and then you'll have the girl of your dreams! The one who'll boot with no errors!

Well, I'll give it a try over the week-end. By that time I guess you'll have shared your experience... looking forward to reading it.

:)

Regarding your .sig : You mean dogs are cynics? Sounds normal to me! :D

Good morning Sorensei,
Glad to hear from you. How are you?
Yes, Check sums register OK now, in the live CD. I still haven't installed Bianca in my test disc. She does look pretty though :)

Three cheers for the developers :)
I will send in my general first impressions later today. As a matter of fact, I am starting installation in a few minutes.

You are right about dogs. They are really cynics, like philosophers. We have to delve on that deeper some day.

Thanks npap. I believe this flag is the Alsacian one... I could be mistaken though. :)

Hi ken,
Kenetics' Quote :Man who wear old socks while golfing, get hole in one.

Well, better than a hole in his head :) He would then have to ventilate!
Poof!

Hello.
My flag is the official state flag of Florida - no yankee, rebel or otherwise!

Bianca sure is beautiful. npap, you have been spending a lot of time with her! Well, she gave me fits. Hung up on the install at 81% "loading language packages". Who needs language packages? I only speak English and a little Esperanto (my native tongue).

So then, after much research, I decided to redo my hard drive as my partitions were far to big. Of course, I screwed it up so I am about to re partition it again. Will let you know the outcome in a few days (or weeks maybe).

Sorry if this is a silly question, but I thought that Esperanto is an artificially created language? :?

You never heard of Esperantia? It's located between Glycemia and Glockomia
Cu vi paroles Esperanton?

btw, I'm taking the advice you posted on partitioning.

Voulez-vous voir Bianca?
npap: Did I create that? Oh man !! :)

Kenetics: Esperanto spoken here. So you're one of the few for whom this is the mother tongue? Were your parents' mother tongue Esperanto as well? If not, what a great gift they gave you. This is absolutely admirable man. I look forward to practice my Esperanto with you. If you need a sub-forum for this great language, don't hesitate to ask me.

Hi Clem,
I bought a book on Esperanto when I was a teenager (many moons ago!) but I don't remember much about it. Esperanto never was popular in the US because 1) Americans don't feel a need to learn a second language, 2) Esperanto became associated with the Eastern block and thus was considered socialistic or even communistic. However, with all the languages in Europe, I think it would be useful. Does it have any popularity over there?

Well it's kinda of an "alternative" thing for educated-curious-eager_to_learn_and_to_make_a_better_world people if you see what I mean. I suppose you'd find more of these kind of people on Linux related forums than anywhere else, but still people actually having an interest in Esperanto are a minority.

I can understand why it's associated with Eastern languages, mostly because of the "j" and that "oy" sound which make the plural in Esperanto. But again I learnt Thai myself and I could appreciate some relations between the two languages.

It took a genius to create Esperanto, a language which is logical, adaptable and yet close to so many of our "natural" languages.

Maybe it's time people dissociate USSR and Eastern Europe. Not to mention the fact that "community" is a very positive concept and one emphasized a lot in the culture of Esperanto.

I don't know much about the popularity of Esperanto but I'd guess it's more popular among "alternative" movements (Linux users, ecologists, altermondialists, South American countries..etc).

Just a guess though.

I think Americans, being isolated as we are, have a different concept of community then Europeans do with their multiple nationalities. I think things are changing though as the world gets smaller.

One of the best things that happened to me when I was a kid, was being given a stamp collection. I collected for many years and learned much about different countries, currencies, and even languages. World stamp or coin collecting is a great way to start kids out on widening their views of our world.

Hello,
Just to remind you that some pictures in the next pages were removed by me, to avoid offending some peoples' sensitivities.

Thank you for your understanding.
Cheers, Npap
