Cinnamon: make window fullscreen?

Postby Cobold on Tue Mar 20, 2012 3:57 pm

Hi everybody. I hope this is the correct forum, since this is Cinnamon-related and I am using Cinnamon. I am not running Linux MINT however, so I'm not sure. My distro is openSuSE 12.1 on 32 bit.

I would like to know whether there is a possibility to make a window full-screen. Fullscreen as in, there is no launcher bar visible any more, and no window borders, just the contents of the window filling up the screen. This feature is of course easily possible with programs that force fullscreen themselves - I can get to run Wine and Flashplayer on fullscreen without a problem. However, I can't seem to be able to do so in Minecraft. Minecraft is a Java game that doesn't support a fullscreen mode from within the game.

In KDE, I could just left-click on the window bar and select "full screen" and the window would take up the entire screen, with no task bar or window title bar visible any more. Is a similar feature available in Cinnamon?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Here, I'll make sure this is the right forum for your post. I am running LM12 with Cinnamon and I am having the exact same problem as Cobold. Minecraft will occassionally go full screen properly. But 90% of the time the bottom panel will still be visible, blocking some key Minecraft data. Are there plugins to force this?
