SW to organize and store data

Postby pengyou on Fri Mar 23, 2012 9:58 pm

Hi, My name is pengyou and I'm a data-holic! I have thousands of websites stored in more than a hundred folders in Firefox (FF). I have more than a hundred folders in my my old xp computer to save it. I am increasingly needing to save mp3, flash, web, pdf, etc all about the same topic. I am a teacher and love to do multimedia - my students love it too! What I am doing now is to duplicate the system of folders on my hard drive with the system of folders that I have in FF. That is better than nothing but I could really benefit from having a program that would store all kinds of files (and play them from within the program - or seemingly from within the program) and remember all kinds of note and tags about the data. It would be especially useful to be able to "crossreference" files and not have to put things in 2 or more places.

Does anyone have any suggestions? or even keywords that I can use to search on?

Thanks!
pengyou

Basket might be what you want? It's a KDE app but runs fine in gnome. Just put basket in the search box of Software Manager.
