Has always been popular, but sometimes buggy back-end+GUI app. If it is listed you can install and try if you want. If you want GUI make sure to install the front-end as well.

The console tells me I can install it, so I did, but when I start by "sudo Recordmydesktop" it won't launch any GUI, only text mode.
Sorry, but I'm new in Linux, Mint 12 with Gnome classic is my first distro.
I wish I could find some GUI based software inside Synaptic, but doubt it.
