<SOLVED> Mplayer does not work anymore

Hi, I'm a long term mint user, and I've been using mint 12 lxde for some weeks, I noticied that when I tried to see apple movie trailers I couln't anymore (It worked for about 2 weeks). Later I tried playing a video file with smplayer. It did not play. I used VLC 2 to play it without any problem. I rebooted and tried smplayer again. The same erro message "Mplayer crashed,.. code 127". The log file was:

/usr/bin/mplayer: relocation error: /usr/bin/mplayer: symbol ff_codec_bmp_tags, version LIBAVFORMAT_53 not defined in file libavformat.so.53 with link time reference"

I used Synaptic to reinstall Mplayer, without sucess.
Using the terminal to run mplayer displays this message:

"mplayer: relocation error: mplayer: symbol ff_codec_bmp_tags, version LIBAVFORMAT_53 not defined in file libavformat.so.53 with link time reference"

I realize that it's a libavformat.so.53 error. What caused it and what can I do to solve it?

SOLVED:

I did a little more digging in Google: this bug can be solved by installing mplayer2!!! Now both mplayer and it's browser plugins are working again!!!
