xnoise 0.2.0.1

Post by Myself »

Has anyone installed the latest version of xnoise (0.2.0.1) on LMDE Xfce?
If so has the install gone okay and was it worth installing?
The review I read suggests that this is an excellent player, better than most others, so I'm interested but don't wish to mess-up LMDE.

you are of course talking about d/l and installing the debian pkgs listed in the project github page? and not about the ppa, right? because in github you have the deb's for 32bit already properly packaged for debian testing https://github.com/shuerhaaken/xnoise/downloads (as i write)
about the player, dunno

I have downloaded xnoise_0.2.0.1-1ubuntu1_amd64.deb from github but there is no way I am installing it on LMDE until I know it is safe.

sorry, Myself,
have you d/l that deb from github or from here https://launchpad.net/~shkn/+archive/xnoise/+packages (lauchpad, the ppa page)
i ask this because in github i don't see any ubuntu debs available https://github.com/shuerhaaken/xnoise/downloads (only source code and debian-proper debs, being the last and more up to date xnoise-0.2.0-debian-packages-i386.tar.bz2 (which contains xnoise, xnoise-dev and xnoise-plugins debs)

and i found as well this "warning"
Ubuntu

Ubuntu is a Debian Derivate but there are some extra things with it, e.g. the soundmenu, which is available in ubuntu, only.

For Ubuntu there is packaging/debianization data available in the source repo.

Usually Ubuntu is packaged via the PPA.

I followed website link to http://www.xnoise-media-player.com/ and from there to https://github.com/shuerhaaken/xnoise which lead me to https://launchpad.net/~shkn/+archive/xnoise/+packages but, yes, this morning I see that there is another link to debian files at: https://github.com/shuerhaaken/xnoise/downloads
