Cannot add printers in Mint 12

Postby willem3 on Thu Apr 05, 2012 9:59 pm

I installed Mint 12 GNOME on a Fujitsu Lifebook laptop. I noticed there is no menu entry "printing" like in Mint 11 so I cannot add printers. The "printing" icon under "system setting" only shows which printers have been detected but no printers can be added. I found a way around by installing LXDE on the same parition. That does allow me to add printers, which then also show up in GNOME. Is this perhaps a bug in the GNOME version?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

To add a printer, go to "Menu", "System Tools", "System Settings". Click on Printers". Click the "unlock" button & enter your password. Then just click the + sign to add a new printer.

Also I have found a better way to add in Mint 12 is from the terminal with this command:

Code: Select all
system-config-printer

Not really intuitive, but it works. Thanks.
