Help!
I changed my AMD Athlon single core processor to Dual Core yesterday and re-installed Linux from scratch. My Windows partition I left as it was. Windows recognized the new dual core processor and re-validated the OS and has worked fine. Task manager shows two processors etc. Hooray!
But the Linux Mint 12 x64 install keeps freezing. Prior to upgrading the CPU the Linux Mint 12 x32 that was on there worked fine without any problems. I haven't changed anything else on the PC just the CPU (and then a re-install of Mint 12 x64). I decided to re-install Mint to the 64bit version as it's so quick and easy to do.
Anyone give me clues how I could narrow down where to look for the cause of the Mint system freezes? I get the impression that Linux and AMD Athlon X2 processors did have problems in the past. Not sure if this is still the case.
Thanks!
