Midnight commander menu item

Postby bithajcsar on Wed Apr 11, 2012 5:05 pm

Hi All,

I installed mc using Synaptic (Mint 12 LXDE). Clicking on the mc icon in the menu results a blank terminal which does not react to any keystroke.
What can be the error?
Thanks in advance!

Hello, bithajcsar.

In order to find out what the problem is you might open a terminal window and launch Midnight Commander at the command prompt. Maybe you will receive some error messages which tell something about the source of trouble.

Kind regards,

Midnight Commander is an application that runs in a terminal and you should be able to activate it by typing mc into a terminal window. To activate it via an icon, install alacarte (sudo apt-get install alacarte) which presents as Main Menu in your applications list. That will let you specify that mc should run in a terminal with the command mc.
Alternatively you could install Gnome Commander (sudo apt-get install gnome-commander) which runs on your GUI.
