"Open as Administrator" should be there by default in the right-click menu, but if it isn't the package is nautilus-gksu

Yes, Open as Administrator is in Mint's Nautilus right-click menu by default.

Hi, tks for answer.

No, open as root, or as Admnistrator insn't aviable by default...

I searched nautilus-gksu in synaptic, and is missing, so in terminal typed this:

Code: Select all
root@salsalha:~# apt-get install nautilus-gksu
Leyendo lista de paquetes... Hecho
Creando árbol de dependencias
Leyendo la información de estado... Hecho
El paquete nautilus-gksu no está disponible, pero algún otro paquete hace referencia
a él. Esto puede significar que el paquete falta, está obsoleto o sólo se
encuentra disponible desde alguna otra fuente

isn't aviable, with aptitude, the same response...

Greetings.

Yes it is, something has gone gone wrong in your install or post-install if you don't have it - linux mint 12:

I have made 3-4 clean mint 12 installs and Open as Administrator has been in the Nautilus context menu every time. Have no idea why the package is missing from your install.

Hi, tks for answer

Maybe in Linux Mint 12, nautilus-gksu, is still working... in LMDE, seems not.

I share this video:

Does exist a nautilus only repositori, to install the gksu package?

Greetings.

Strangely enough my nautilus-gksu was removed I believe during UP4. Maybe because of a MATE dependency issue?

My dpkg.log says
Code: Select all
2012-04-05 19:27:11 startup packages remove
2012-04-05 19:27:11 status installed nautilus-gksu 2.0.2-5

let's see:
nautilus-gksu was dropped in debian when the gnome2/gnome3 transition http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=637325 and is not in testing (we have some builds in sid but for exotic architectures http://packages.debian.org/search?suite=all&section=all&arch=any&searchon=names&keywords=nautilus-gksu

ubuntu and the ubuntu-based ed. of mint have nautilus-gksu because they backported 2.0.2-5 from squeeze;

LMDE-MATE has caja-gksu
Code: Select all
amadeu@amadeu:~$ apt policy caja-gksu
caja-gksu:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 1.2.1-1+wheezy
  Version table:
     1.2.1-1+wheezy 0
        500 http://tridex.net/repo/debian/ wheezy/main amd64 Packages
     1.2.0-1 0
        500 http://packages.linuxmint.com/ debian/import amd64 Packages

tks for answer

No, my update pack, doesn't had MATE environment... why? instead, it installed Gnome Shell.

Shell, its working for me, and I'd never try it out, until now, but I'm afraid off LMDE will not bring support to this desktop. (I though that everything will aim to MATE or Cinnamon)

But, in Cinnamon, the gksu right click option, doesn't work either.

Mean wile, I'm downloading MATE, so I'll have all the three, just in case (MATE, Cinnamon, and Gnome Shell -I don't fell comfortable with KDE-).

Greetings.

Hi, in MATE gksu works... but I'm still hoping that works for Cinnamon and Shell too... Ideas?

Works for me. In Cinnamon.

However, I'd previously done this.
