2 nvidia gpus with 3 monitors - no xorg.conf

For several weeks I have tried to get my LDME system to allow use of 3 monitors- (2) - 20" DVI monitors and (1) - 32" HDTV. I have read and tried every debian, linuxmint and ubunta suggestion I could find with out success. Most google searches find my first request for help. This is the second request.

System:

Motherboard - ECS Black Series A785GM-AD3(1.0) AM3 AMD 785G ATX AMD Motherboard

CPU - AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor

RAM - 2 x G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory

GPU1 - EVGA 01G-P3-1431-KR GeForce GT 430 (Fermi) 1GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card with 2 Samsung 20" monitors.

GPU2 - ZOTAC GT218IONGPU-A-E GeForce GT 218 (NVIDIA ION graphics processor) 512MB DDR3 PCI Express x1 with 1 Toshiba 32" HDTV

Hard Drives: SDA - 1TB with Windows 7 Ultimate (700GB) and Dual Boot LinuxMint Release 1 (debian) Kernel Linux 2.6.39-2-amd-64 (262 GB)

SDB - 1TB - Backup of SDA

SDC - 1TB - Common Data - multimedia (movies, music and tv programs)

Power Supply - 850 watt

Current Status:

Win7 Ultimate -
setup for both monitors and HDTV - each screen can be adjusted seperately. I can drag program window to any of the three monitors.

LDME -
Dual Boot - no problems. System is updated.
Monitors - the monitors attached to GPU1 work as expected. (drag program windows to either monitor) HDTV attach through HDMI on GPU2 will not work. runing xrandr gives this information:

Seems the second GPU is not found. Currently using the Nouveau drivers. Attempts at installing latest nvidia drivers has failed - no matter who's instructions I followed.

There is no "/etc/X11/xorg.cong" file. Creating xorg.conf kills X.

I would be happy to have the 2 monitors working and the HDTV as a clone of one of them -- NO JOY SO FAR.

Again I am trying to get the nvidia drivers installed. This is what I did and the results.

First I removed nouveau as it conflicts with nvidia

# apt remove xserver-xorg-video-nouveau
Reading package lists... Done

Continuing I did this

# uname -r

I did this next:

# apt-get install nvidia-glx${VERSION}

Now I am restoring the new install ---------------------

Problem has to be with the driver installation as I had similar results trying to setup Ubuntu kubuntu and opensuse. Debian Squeeze was worse.

Problem is you don't know exactly how to install versions and dependencies.

This means you have to find a version of XServer below 2:1.7.7

I don't know if downgrading XServer is an easy task and I'm not sure that this will even fix your initial problem.
The version you are searching is in Stable. You had to change your repositories. #1.a) http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=197&t=91405

You mean even just creating the file kills X?
