Anyone here using Memory Techniques for better learning?

Hello there,

I have been really interested in improving my memory lately. I read Harry Lorraine's book "Super Power Memory" and
"How To Develop A Perfect Memory" by Dominic OBrien and have been really fascinated by the Major System, Link System and Number Peg System too.
I am planning to use a MMORPG called "Dofus" for my Memory Palace for memorizing lessons for my studies.

Have you tried any memory techniques similar or diffrent from this? I would like to know how you do it, so i can get some ideas too.

Well, I use Wikipedia. Seriously though, I prefer writing a summary of knowledge gained while studying a new topic (like discussed here viewtopic.php?f=58&t=83920). At work, I'm using mind maps in most meetings with clients. This helps me keep track of the discussion, steer it back onto topics as yet unresolved, and makes it easier to recall the details later. So nothing fancy, but it works for me.

Thank you for your reply Vincent. Wow, how do you use Wikipedia as a memory peg?

I looked at your reply in the other topic u mentioned, and yes your method seems cool for summarzing and remembering smaller chunck of information.
I never really understood what Mind Maps are, could you explain it a bit more for me? Thanks

Yes, I've been digging into this study recently.

When I took a Medical Terminology online, I memorized hundreds of terms over the course of 2 weeks through memorization techniques.

I used this website:

...along with a lot of memory palaces.

I would work in 15 minute intervals for an hour with 10 cards in each session, and then I would break for 20 minutes. I would memorize them front to back and back to front, and I would restart the sequence each time I missed a term.

This worked quite well for me. But, everyone has their own "sweet spot" in the time and capacity category.

Oh, and I must note that SLEEP is very important.

Trust me, the endless nights weren't as productive as working in intervals during the day with a good night's rest on your shoulders.

i have weak memory

I do 2 basic things:

1. I keep a small diary maybe 2.5'' x 4'', that fits in my pocket easily.

When I am going out somewhere, I note down the work in short and then tick out as and when the work is completed. Traditional but effective. I do not need mobile to remind me of anything. In fact I do not own a mobile (I am serious)

2. I have a small rough paper (less then 1/4th size) printed on one side . and 2'' x 4'' papers bits. I have a metal stand with round wooden base that is capable of holder A4 size paper vertical (cant find a snap on internet)

I put small clip of 2'' x 4'' and write down what ever I want to do today. i.e. todays list.

Since it's right in front of me, it keeps me reminding me all time.

Traditional, but efficient. No evernote, no rainlender, no lightening or any soft managers not even a pin-up board (miser uh), but works well.

Dominic O'Brien's books are great. What are you trying to memorize? There are different techniques for different kinds of information...
