Cannot install Evolution [SOLVED]

Postby lswarte on Sat Apr 14, 2012 3:32 am

Yesterday I installed Linux Mint 12 on a Dell Inspiron 1501, and everything works fine. The next morning I wanted to install Evolution in order to make use of the on-line account facility in Gnome. In the software manager I searched for Evolution and clicked the 'Install' button.

The installation bar starts moving until 16% and than stops. The 'Install' button disappears, but Evolution is not installed. This happens every time I try to install Evolution.

Anybody any suggestions?

Thank you in advance, and with kind regards,

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Try with command line terminal :
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install evolution

If it's says already installed:
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install --reinstall evolution
sudo apt-get install -f

If not work, you can try using ppa:janvitus/gnomestracciatella

Code: Select all
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:janvitus/gnomestracciatella
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install evolution

It worked .. thank you so much.

I have no idea what I did, but I have Evolution installed and everything seems to be working. It even imported my G-mail account, addresses and calendar.

Wonderful, thank you very much!
