After trying out a few distros(I have a spindle full), I thought it was time to check out mint 12 lxde. I have an older A31 Thinkpad with a 2Ghz P4 and 512 ram. I was pleased to find that my wireless worked out of the box, sound was great and videos played smoothly. Also it is running a little cooler than some of the others.

thanks to all for the warm welcome. A quick question, I tried to answer all that responed but the forum software wouldn't let me post more than once. What is the time limit for posting to a thread?

Posting interval is set to 2.5 minutes for new members. It is an anti-spam measure. Once you are underway to reach level 2 (viewtopic.php?f=17&t=81997#p506317), the posting interval is not applied to you anymore.
