Update LibreOffice

Postby Zauberlehrling! on Thu Apr 19, 2012 11:56 am

I work at work with Linux but started to use it at home only a short while ago (still parallel with Windows XP ... just in case).
I am really pleased with Mint, I use the latest one most programs seem to be updated regularly.
I know how to update Calibre (well the website gives the command as copy and paste, one just needs to copy it into a Terminal and run it).

I would like to update my LibreOffice from 3.4.4 to 3.5.2 but it is not updated automatically and I would like to know how to update it manually.
How can I find out where a Software is installed on Linux?

I also would like to update other programs, f.e. VLC...

Please help.

Yeah, I had posted this first in there (did delete my comment from there again) but no answer, not even a "there is no way".
That is why I posted my comment here again. :(

try this: https://launchpad.net/~libreoffice/+arc ... /+packages

On the other hand you may try the "original" package from libreoffice site http://www.libreoffice.org/download/
but here you must do a "manual" instalation:
1. Delete the old version (with synaptic or command line)
2. Extract the directories and files than in each directory give the command: sudo dpkg -i *.deb (you need root privileges so you have to use sudo)
This will install all the packages from that directory.
